About Us

Roundtable Community (RC) became a registered charitable organization with the Hong Kong Government in 2006 and enjoys a tax exempt status granted by the Inland Revenue Department of Hong Kong under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. It fulfills the role of non-profit making community service by relying on external donations. It carries out social activities that are charitable in nature and facilitate exchange among youngsters.

In the research level, we aim at grooming civic participants of the new generations by new training method, exposure to on-going academic debates as well as the dialogue with people and seniors from divergent background. We hope to re-formulate and broaden the concept of civil participation, and encourage the input from more talented people to enhance the overall quality of social participation.

In the meantime, we build up the platform in which young people from all walks of life can come together to exchange ideas, experience and engage into constructive deliberation instead of polemic confrontation. Our flagship program, Intellectual Basilica, serves to deepen the public discussion on pressing social issues and generate avant-garde articulation on particular policy areas. While this program will inculcate young people in professional field, political party, journalists with stronger grasps on current issues, we also strengthing their social roles by channeling their demands and visions to the society via research output, mass media and community outreach.

We also facilitate local, regional and international cooperation between young people. We establish the Knight Club and a host of Associate Organizations as the liaison unit among members. Members and friends will be situated into different part of our huge and extensive network. We encourage bottom-up initiation of civic participation which focuses on inter-disciplinary cooperation, dialectic of ideologies as well as the effective participation.

RC is supported by donation, funds, contribution from Roundtable Enterprise as well as the support from other generous friends.
