Dr. Simon Shen is the Host Table Partner since 2004, and also serves as the Chancellor of theRoundtable Group since April 2006. He obtained his PhD (Politics and International Relations) qualification from the University of Oxford; MA (Political Science) and BA (Political Science and History, summa cum laude) degree from Yale University. His publications include two books on terrorism and conservatism, several book chapters in academic books, several conference papers as well as a list of newspaper articles on Hong Kong politics and society. He also features in various TV and radio programs and comment on various social and political issues. His research interests include International Relations and Greater China, Terrorism and Regional Security and Chinese Nationalism and National Identity. He has started his new position at the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong as Research Assistant Professor.

Paul Chan 陳智遠 Host Table Partner since Nov 2005

Mr Paul Chan Chi-yuen is the Host-Table-Partner of Roundtable Exco since 2005, and also serve as the Chief Campaigner of the Roundtable Community since April 2006. He obtained his Master of Philosophy (Government and Public Administration) qualification from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and law degree from the University of Hong Kong. His publications include a book on the political development of Hong Kong, several book chapters in academic books, several conference papers as well as a list of newspaper articles on Hong Kong politics and society. He also features in various TV and radio programs and comment on various social and political issues. His research interests include Hong Kong and China politics, democratization and political transition. He is just awarded the British Chevening Postgraduate Scholarship and will pursue study in comparative politics in the London School of Economic and Political Science in the coming academic year.

Fred Lam 林輝 Host Table Partner since Nov 2006

Mr Fred Lam is the Vice Table Host of Roundtable Exco since 2004. He obtained his bachelor degree of Social Sciences from Lingnan University, and is currently a social work master student of Chinese University. He is also a councillor assistant, a blogger ( http://blog.LamFai.net), a freelance writer and the editor of INmediahk.net. His research interests include local society and politics, local and international social movements, internet culture and new media, etc.

Gary Tang 鄧鍵一 Vice-Table Host (Hong Kong Arts & Culture)

Mr Gary Tang Kin-Yat is the Vice-Table Host of Roundtable Exco since 2005. He obtained degree from Government and Public Administration of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and is currently research student of the same division. His publications include review and commentary about various cultural events current affairs. His research interests include Hong Kong politics, leadership theory, and cultural theory.

Ka Kit Chan 陳家傑 Vice-Table Host (Hong Kong Politics)

Mr. Chan Ka Kit is the Vice-Table-Host of Roundtable (Hong Kong Politics) since 2006. He is a postgraduate student of Master of Philosophy (Government and Public Administration) in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His publications include articles in Hong Kong newspapers, books and magazines of Roundtable Publishing. He also features in some TV programs and public talks concerning Hong Kong politics. He is conducting a research concerning the government and business relationship in Hong Kong. Movies and sports are the two main hobbies for Chan.

Mr. Bill Tang is the Vice-Table Host (China) of Roundtable Exco. He obtained his Bachelor of Social Science (Sociology) form The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently working for the community affairs of Tung Chung. His research interest is social welfare.

Bonnie Ng 吳凱霖 Vice-Table Host (International)

Ms Bonnie Ng Hoi Lam is the Vice-Table Host (International) of Roundtable. She obtained her Master of Philosophy and Bachelor of Social Science (Government and Public Administration) qualification from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2004 and 2002 respectively. Her research interests include International Politics, in particular to the Sino-American relations. She is now working in the Cooperate Communications department of a property developer and has been writing occasionally for different magazines and newspapers such as Ming Po, Hong Kong Economic Journal, A45 as well as The Next Magazines.

Interestingly, she is an enthusiast of collecting Hello Kitty stuff, probably for the reason that she shares the same dream and aspiration with the 30-year-old Hello Kitty!

Mr. Gary Wong Pui-fung is the Vice-Table Host (Media and Publication) of Roundtable Exco since 2006. He also serves as the editor-in-chief of Roundtable’s bookazines, meta-, meta-global, meta-china. He obtained Social Sciences Degree (Sociology and Psychology) from the University of Hong Kong. He is an M.Phil. candidate of Department of Sociology of the University of Hong Kong. His publications include several book chapters in academic books, several conference papers as well as a list of newspaper articles. His research interests include Hong Kong middle class, cultural industries, work and employment, youth problem and urban China studies.

Jade Lai 黎穎瑜 Vice-Table Host (Education)

Ms. Jade Lai Wing-yu lectures at HKU SPACE on media and culture subjects. Previously, she worked as a visiting lecturer at Hong Kong Polytechnic University (APSS). Her winning of the Rhodes Scholarship (2000-2003) enriched her intellectual journey and enabled her to obtain an M. Phil in Sociology from the University of Oxford. Jade is guest hosting a controversial current affairs phone-in program, “Open Line, Open View”, for RTHK Radio 1. Her past media experiences include working for Independent Television News (ITN), Asia Television News (World Channel) and Commercial Radio 2. She enjoys solitude as much as quality companionship. She loves humor as much as rose tea. Her latest addiction is reading the Death Note.

Victor Chan 陳凱豐 Vice-Table Host (Economics)

Mr. Victor Hoi Fung Chan is the Vice-Table Host (Economics) of Roundtable Community.? Having obtained his undergraduate Accountancy degree from the UK, Victor started his career as an auditor in a Big Four accounting firm.? He then joined an international bank’s executive trainee program and is now a private banker.? Whilst pursuing his banking career Victor obtained an MBA (Finance) and an MSc (Information Systems Management) at HKUST.? He is professionally qualified as a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Banker.

Victor is an active member of the Lions Club and has served as the President of the HKUST MBA Alumni Association.? He enjoys photography and reading.

Shadow Vice-Table Host (Hong Kong Politics)

Miss Vivian Chiu Yuen-ming was educated both in Hong Kong and in the States. She received her B.A. (honors) Degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison, double majoring in Economics and Journalism. She then returned to Hong Kong and obtained her Master of Philosophy (Communication) degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She served as teaching assistant and research assistant during her study, and had published a number of papers in different international conferences. Her major research interests are Hong Kong media, politics and culture. In 2006, she became the Shadow Vice-Table host (Hong Kong politics) of Roundtable Exco.

Mr Derek Mi-Chang Yuen has been a Roundtable Exco Member since 2006. He is a PhD candidate at Center for Strategic Studies, University of Reading, UK and is supervised by British-American Strategist Dr. Colin S. Gray. He obtained his undergraduate degree (BSocSc) from the University of Hong Kong and MSc in Theory and History of International Relations from London School of Economics. He provides commentaries for Hong Kong Economic Journal (信報) and teaches general courses at School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong on an irregular basis. His research interests focus on strategic theories, grand strategy, and Taoism & strategy.

Mr. Nicholas Cheung Yat-fung is the Shadow Vice-Table Host (Education) of the Roundtable Community since April 2006. He was one of founding members of the Roundtable in 2004. He obtained a Master of Philosophy (Politics and Public Administration) from the University of Hong Kong, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hong Kong, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His publications include a book on the political development of Hong Kong and a list of newspaper articles on Hong Kong politics and society. He is currently a Liberal Studies panel head of a high school who gives an impetus to the development of the Liberal Studies in Hong Kong.

Mr. Timothy Kwai Ting-Kong is the Shadow Vice-Table Host (Education) of the Roundtable Community since 2006. He is the Programme Host of Metro Radio 99.7 and also a Research Analyst working at The Singaporean Investment Bank, UOB Kay Hian.

He graduated at The University of Essex in England with a Bachelor of Law and he studied Business Management at The University of Surrey from 2005-2006.

He comments various cultural and social issues on newspapers and magazines and he also likes to share his personal experiences in The Middle East, Central Asia on the media.

Mr. Kaxton Yu-Kwan SIU is the Shadow Vice-Table Host (Economics) of Roundtable. He obtained his Master of Philosophy (Social Science) qualification and mathematics degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His publications include: a government funded research report, “Our Stone Nullah Lane”, which is the first historical study from the perspective of “street history movement” in Hong Kong, a book chapter “New Labour Protest Movements in Hong Kong” in an internationally circulated academic book called, “Globalization and After”, several book chapters in academic books circulated in Hong Kong, several conference papers as well as a list of newspaper articles on Hong Kong politics and society. He also features in radio programs and comments on different social and political issues. His research interests include: Hong Kong and China labor conditions and movements, urbanization and community movements in Hong Kong.

Mr. Andrew You has been one of the Executive Committee of Roundtable since 2006. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) and furthered his legal studies in a postgraduate program (Common Professional Examinations, England and Wales) in U.K. in 2005. Having served at Hong Kong Trade Development Council as Marketing Officer in joining its Executive Trainee Program upon graduation, Andrew is responsible in marketing Hong Kong service industries to overseas. As a project manager of various overseas marketing events and state-level business matching projects, Andrew’s expertise has a focus on Mainland Chinese markets.

Mr. Steve Chung Lok-wai is the convener of the Global Watcher of Roundtable Associate Organization since 2006 and also is one of the Exco members of Roundtable since January 2007. He is currently an MPhil student in the Department of Government and Public Administration in the Chinese University of Hong Kong and received his Bachelor degree in Social Sciences from the Lingnan University. He published a book and several newspaper articles including topics related to International politics, Asian relations and Sports and politics. Vincent Tai

Vincent Tai is currently a reporter at the school page of the Hong Kong Economic Times. He writes stories about the secondary school sector and some stories about the liberal studies in Hong Kong. Mr. Tai has vast experience in business and tertiary education sectors before he joins the school page, as he was a reporter of the supplement page of HKET for years.
Mr. Tai holds a first degree in Communications (Major in Journalism) and he's about to confirm his MA degree in Public Policy and Management. He also runs the office of the CityU Postgraduate Association. He has been organizing various kinds of activities and campaign for postgraduate students in CityU.
